Juvéderm

Juvéderm is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler designed to smooth away wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Juvéderm is composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally present in the skin. The results of this non-surgical cosmetic procedure are evident immediately.

How Does Juvéderm Work?

Juvéderm is composed mainly of hyaluronic acid, a substance that keeps skin hydrated and healthy. As we age, the hyaluronic acid in our skin begins to lessen. Sunlight and other factors also can diminish hyaluronic acid in the skin. When Juvéderm is injected, it replenishes some of that lost hyaluronic acid. Results are noticeable immediately as the hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin and plumps up wrinkles. Juvéderm comes in several formulas. Juvéderm XC and Volbella last up to 1 year. Juvéderm Vollure lasts 18 months. Juvéderm Voluma lasts up to 2 years. We can help tailor a treatment specifically for you.

What are Some Benefits of Juvéderm?

Juvéderm is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is safe for people of all skin types and color. Studies have shown that Juvéderm does not increase the risk of hypertropic scarring or pigmentation. Juvéderm can produce long-lasting, natural-looking results with no follow-up treatment. The treatment process is relatively pain-free. Juvéderm contains lidocaine, which is a type of anesthetic.

Side Effects?

Juvéderm is a minimally-invasive, safe procedure. However, patients may experience mild side effects such as pain, swelling and redness at the injection site. These typically diminish within seven days. If symptoms persist, patients should contact us.

How Long is the Recovery Process?

Following the procedure, patients are free to return to everyday life, just avoid strenuous exercise and alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours. Limiting sun exposure can minimize side effects such as swelling and redness.
